WUMC-FM

Station Manager

August 2014 - May 2018

WUMC is Milligan College's student-operated radio station. I managed both programming and the technical operations of the station including music selection, web streaming, promo production, social media promotion, updating the website, automation using SAM Broadcaster and recruiting show hosts. During my time as station manager, I brought many improvements to the station including the addition of very successful live sports broadcasts, a new music rotation built from scratch, several audio wiring changes that allow for a better quality signal and the addition of live music.

WBEJ-AM

Disc Jockey

May 2011 - April 2017

WBEJ is the community radio station for Elizabethton, TN. At WBEJ, I was the Saturday morning show host from 6 a.m. until noon and provided voice overs for advertising. I did some work editing WBEJ's website until 2012 when the station switched from FTP- to CMS-based editing, enabling all employees to update the site. In addition to my radio show, I also filled in during the week from time to time and have been the host of special broadcasts such as the annual Christmas tree lighting, the Covered Bridge Festival, Kiwanis Club fundraiser day and various remote broadcasts. My radio work was featured in a full page article in the local newspaper, the Elizabethton Star, in 2014. I was also among the five nominees chosen for the Star's 2013 Reader's Choice Award for best DJ.

WKID 6

Creator

July 2006 - August 2014

I produced a newscast series from home called WKID 6 from July 1, 2006 until August 9, 2014. Each of the nearly 150 newscasts were about five to 10 minutes long and consisted of a three- or four-story news block and a weather segment. The newscasts were distributed by email to nearly 40 people. WKID 6 began using a black-and-white security camera and VHS tapes but grew into a digital program with motion graphics, chroma key and eventually high definition. Its website, wkidnews.com, was started in 2008 and featured a mobile version beginning in 2010. WKID 6 also periodically featured full news packages with original reporting on local events and topics. WKID 6 was featured twice on WCYB-TV in reports by the late Jim Conrad in 2010 and 2014.

Warrior News

Executive Producer

October 2013 - May 2014

Warrior News was my high school's weekly news program that I founded during my senior year. The two months prior to the first episode were spent building a graphics package, piecing together equipment and other planning. I led a group of ten people to create the entirely student-produced program. Each newscast was about six minutes long and included news reports, announcements, weather, sports and answers to student-submitted questions. Warrior News was shown each Friday on my high school's closed circuit television system and uploaded onto YouTube. Throughout the first season of Warrior News, I participated by assigning, editing, writing and video taping stories; producing graphics; recording the show; updating a news feed on social media; and editing the show into the final video.
